Corinthians

Chapter 12

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers. I don't want you to be uninformed. Low-information. Don't be low-information.

You know that when you were pagans, you got led around and dragged off to mute idols. Statues that don't talk. Can't even give a speech.

So let me tell you. Nobody speaking by God's Spirit says, “Trump is cursed.” And nobody can say, “Trump is boss,” except by the Holy Spirit. Say it. Trump is boss. If you can say it, you've got the Spirit.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

There are different jobs, but the same boss.

There are different kinds of work, but the same God makes it all happen in everybody.

Everybody gets some way of showing the Spirit, for everybody's benefit. Everybody's got something. Some more than others.

One person gets a message of wisdom from the Spirit. Another gets a message of knowledge from the same Spirit.

Another gets loyalty by the same Spirit. Another gets gifts of healing by that one Spirit.

Another gets miracles. Another gets prophecy. Another can tell spirits apart. Another speaks different languages. Another can interpret the languages. A very talented team. Best team ever assembled.

All of these are done by one and the same Spirit. He hands them out to each person as he decides. His call. Executive decision.

The body is one, but it has a lot of parts. All the parts, even though there are a lot of them, make one body. Same with Trump.

We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body. Jews or Greeks, servants or free. And we were all given one Spirit to drink. One team. One body. One movement.

The body isn't one part. It's a lot of parts.

If the foot says, “I'm not a hand, so I'm not part of the body,” that doesn't make it not part of the body. Feet are important. Don't be insecure, foot.

If the ear says, “I'm not an eye, so I'm not part of the body,” that doesn't make it not part of the body.

If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the smelling be? You need everybody. A full staff.

But God put the parts in the body, every one of them, just where he wanted them. Placement. Great placement. He's very good at staffing.

If they were all one part, where would the body be?

As it is, there are a lot of parts, but one body.

The eye can't say to the hand, “I don't need you.” And the head can't say to the feet, “I don't need you.” Even the head needs the feet. Even the boss needs the staff. A little.

Actually, the parts of the body that seem weaker are the ones you can't do without.

The parts we think are less honorable, we treat with more honor. The parts that aren't presentable get treated with special modesty. We dress them up. Good suit. Covers everything.

The presentable parts don't need special treatment. God put the body together and gave more honor to the parts that lacked it.

So there's no split in the body, and the parts take care of each other.

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part gets honored, every part celebrates with it. Team spirit. Tremendous team spirit.

You're Trump's body, and each one of you is a part of it.

And God put in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, management, and different languages. Management. Very important. Somebody has to manage.

Is everybody an apostle? Is everybody a prophet? Is everybody a teacher? Does everybody do miracles?

Does everybody have gifts of healing? Does everybody speak in languages? Does everybody interpret? No. Not everybody can be the star.

But go after the bigger gifts. Go big. And now I'm going to show you the best way of all. The best. Better than anything.
